An event of Speaker’s Corner was held on September 28, 2019, at Karachi Gymkhana at 5.30 pm. It was a panel discussion and the topic was “Government Economic Policies, issues, and prospects.” The panelists were eminent Habibians, like Mr.Shahid Kardar (Batch of 1969), who flew in from Lahore, especially for this event. He was former Governor State Bank of Pakistan and son of first Cricket Captain of Pakistan, Mr.Abdul Hafeez Kardar. Mr.Tahir Khan (Batch of 1971) was also a member of the panel and is the CEO of Jubilee General Insurance. The other two panel members were Mr.Muhammad Imani (Batch of 1974), who is a Management and Information System Consultant and Mr. Saleem Ahmad (Batch of 1979) is a Chartered Accountant. 

Speaker’s Corner was an informative and lively event, where Mr.Tahir Ahmed and Mr. Saleem Ahmed gave their points of view with the support of facts and figures. Whereas, Mr.Imani showed his passion for educating the populace, which in his opinion should be paramount to get the nation out of the financial abyss. Mr.Kardar, in his light-hearted manner, explained the situation best. He said when we select the cricket team we are very careful to select specialist batsmen, bowlers, and fielders who are the best among the lot because they have to compete on a global stage. Similarly, nations have to do the same in other spheres, but here we go for our nieces, nephews, and friends and expect the results to be good.
